What Does Noxon Road PTA Do?

Each year Noxon PTA works together to organize and fund a number of enrichment activities for Noxon Road Students.

Below is a list of many of the activities the our PTA organizes. For each of these programs we depend on volunteers. The responsibilities of each of the volunteer committees can be found here. If you would like to lend a hand and volunteer, send us an e-mail

PTA supported/organized activities:

  • Arts in Education: Dave Johnson; AMIDONS; Jacgueline Sweeney; Denise Shirmer; Andes Manta; Arts Community – Dance Workshop; Bierkos and more…
  • Pumpkin Festival: family fun day, on a Thursday in late October
  • Reflections: arts program to encourage artistic expression, 2008/09 year’s theme is: “Wow.”
  • PARP (Parents As Reading Partners) – NY State program to promote reading
  • PAMP (Parents As Math Partners) –Noxon Pilot Program to promote math
  • MS&T Expo: Math Science and Technology Expo (March)
  • Blood Drive (April)
  • Staff Appreciation Week (May)
  • Celebration of Literacy (June) Last year our guest was author Douglas Florian
  • Field Day (June)

PTA Communication:

  • PTA meetings: 1st Wednesday of the month , 7:00 pm in Library (list of dates TBA)
  • Noxon Times: PTA Newsletter published 3 times a year
  • This web site & RSS reader feed
  • Backpack Mail: notes from PTA committees

  • Student Directory: information requests are sent out at the beginning on the year.
  • School Calendar: available at the beginning of the school year.

Fund Raisers / Budget:

It takes about $25,000 per year to provide these services to our kids.

Here’s some examples of costs: Art’s and Education ($7,000), Field Trips ($3,100), Science Assemblies ($2,000), PARP ($2,100), Sprout Creek ($500), Building related Mini Grants ($1,500), Celebration of Literacy ($2,000), Testing Treats ($1,500), Student Appreciation ($1,500), Noxon Times ($850) , and Staff Appreciation ($1,000) to name just a few.

To fund these activates, we have fundraisers though out the school year:

  • Fall Gift Wrap (Sept)
  • Annual Craft Fair: Celebrating our 26th year- Sunday, November 23, 2008
  • Book Fair (April)
  • Mothers Day Plant Sale (May)
  • Spirit and Pride (School t-shirts etc..)
  • Funding Factory: recycling cell phones and printer cartridges
  • Box Tops for Education: (we support student council in collection
    of box tops)
