About PAMP

In 1987 the NYS PTA initiated Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) to encourage parents to read with their children on a daily basis. The more a child’s learning skills are enforced outside of the school the stronger they become. The PARP program has been a great success at Noxon Road Elementary.

In 2006 the Noxon PTA created their own program:
Parents As Math Partners

The purpose of PAMP is to provide a program that encourages students to practice their math facts on a daily basis so that they become confident in these. Just as learning the sounds of each letter is fundamental to reading, learning math facts is the foundation for advanced math.

This the third year that the Noxon Road PTA will be offering the PAMP program.
We started PAMP in an effort to strengthen the PTA programs we offer students in math and science.

This year’s program will run for three weeks from November 3rd to November 21.

You can sign up to participate in the PAMP program by signing and completing the PAMP contract.

PAMP BOOKLETS:
Each student participating in PAMP will receive a math facts workbook on Monday. These should be completed and turned in the following Monday to be entered for the raffle

RAFFLES:
Raffles will be held on Tuesday and prizes will be awarded at each grade level. At the end of the program, each participating student will be awarded a prize.

MATH FUN SHEETS:
New to PAMP this year are math fun sheets for students. Math fun sheets will be distributed to ALL students each week, even if they have not completed a PAMP contract. They are for your child’s enjoyment. We hope that you will encourage your child to try them! They are not required to be returned to the school.
Teachers have solutions to the puzzles. (So students can check with them if they have it right).

MATH GAME BOXES:
This year we have purchased new math games for each grade level. Our
goal is to provide some fun/challenging math related games that will be available to students in the classroom during free time or indoor recess.

WEB SITES:
Using suggestions form the teachers at Noxon we have created a list of the some of the best web sites for math games. Let us know what you think.

If you have any questions or comments about our PAMP program feel free to contact us. We look forward to working with you and your child on PAMP this year.
